Rita Sowins is the founder of Sowins Design, a graphic design studio specializing in book design in Los Angeles. As an award winning graphic designer, she has managed, designed, and produced a variety of projects in diverse industries such as: Book Publishing, Fashion, Horticulture, Interior Design, Arts, Food, and Beauty.
After a decade of working for a multi-faceted design studio, she left in 2007 and founded Sowins Design. Her goal was to focus primarily on designing books, her true passion in design. Since inception, she has designed over 180 books in all genres. Some of the categories include: Cookbooks, Interior Design Books, Craft /Art books, Novelty Books, Children’s Books, and Lifestyle Books.
Some of her clients include: Artisian Books, Clarkson Potter, Potter Style, Rizzoli Books, Gibbs Smith, St. Martin’s Press, Flatiron Books, Monacelli Press, Grand Central Publishing, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Ten Speed Press.
Rita holds a BFA in Communication Design from Otis/Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles. She has been recognized in distinguished design publications: Communication Arts, How, Print, and others. Some of her books have been featured in Elle Décor, C, Bon Appetit, House Beautiful, Epicurious, Los Angeles Magazine, Food52, Dwell, Saveur, Architectural Digest, Food & Wine, and Design Sponge.
